those are some weird and confusing choices... the reid index is thickness of submucosal glands to whole tracheal wall... id go with b/(a+b+c+d)

its clearly written in robbins that its thickness of submucosal gland / thickness bet epithelia n cartilage...
so do we need to include whole thickness of cartilage n epithelia or not??:toosad:

reid index is thickness of mucus gland layer to thickness of wall b/n epithelium&cartilage.(i.e. bronchial wall)so we can safely exclude A,B&E options.

the bronchial wall-it's basement membrane to perichondrium of cartilage
.

so i would say C is more appropriate option rather than saying exact answer.i can't take D option as in pic depicted above the letter D represents whole thickness of cartilage not just perichondrium.plz correct me if i'm wrong.
