Hi!

I have completed my Step 1 Exam last month and i am applying for CS exam in July. In my ECFMG account only my form 186 is verified so far, the medical education credentials (diploma verification) is still pending.

I am getting worried, is the medical diploma verification needed before they will process my application? I was able to give Step 1 without problem, so is it same for step 2CS also ? I need to apply soon!!

your help is much appreciated. thanks

We noticed that recently (last few weeks), the ECFMG is allowing candidates to take USMLE Steps before verification of medical credentials.

Therefore, I hope that will be the case with you.

Go and apply for the CS now and tell us what will happen

thanks so much for the quick reply sabio - just hoping things turn out OK.

but INCASE they dont - can u give me a few pointers ?

1. One form 327A is on the way to college from ECFMG,- if the college gets it in a week and mails it back - should i expect the thing to be verified in another month ? - end March ie?

2. Will it then take 3 weeks from march for them to process the application? ie middle april?

3. i can only then check for a date in the june/july slot i want??? to my mind that is searching for spots with 2 months to go in rush season! .. am i going to miss applying this year ! omg.. coz this is the last year i am below the 5 yr old graduate thing.. :toosad:

I WISH i had known its this complicated for CS before!.. if u have any tips for me to speed things up id really appreciate it

Hopefully, you will be able to find a spot in the time you want.

I also suggest when you look up the date, you use the trick detailed here
http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-articles/828-scheduling-your-exam-date.html
If you use that trick you'll always find a spot, even if it is few months before the exam.

Good luck,
hey thanks.. thats an awesome trick.... btw.. it seems they dont need to verify my credentials, only receive them - which they have right now

http://www.usmle-forums.com/ecfmg-forum/6618-form-186-enough-get-cs-scheduling-permit.html

. So about 2 weeks for me to receive a permit i would imagine. that might be OK for me to get a June-ish date and ill keep searching for July.

Thanks again so much !!!:)

OK ! I just got my permit today!! and that meant it was only 3 days of processing and was immediately able to book July dates at Philly :)!

So guys if you are listening. its taking very short time to process applications for CS and also they DONT NEED VERIFICATION of edu credentials - merely receipt of the credentials will do.
