Hi.

I got my step 1 result in last month. Can any body guide me wen should I plan for CS and CK, if I want to appear in this year's match.....and how to apply for CS and J1 visa?

I am feeling CS is a harder task than Step 1 and CK because I am not familiar with the process...and more over I'll also have to apply for visa....Can anybody guide me??

Thanks in anticipation

Agree with hs04

Once you get the Visa (B1/B2) you can start preparing for the CS. Right now, all you can do is studying for the CK.

Won't it better if she take a date then apply for visa?
Minimizing the risk of visa rejection.
the first question they ask that why you want to go..

better in my opinion if u cleared the 1 then clear Ck, apply for a date, do not pay until u get your visa. 90% chances in your scenario that they won't reject it. call embassy ask them about the procedure. they are familiar with the foreign Drs visa apps. Take a second opinion though.

I agree with you.
Getting a Visa is easier when you already have a CS appointment.
I disagree with one point though, she must pay to get fully registered so that she can present strong papers to consulate, there's no risk in losing the money because the ECFMG will completely refund the fees if the reason is visa rejection.

Which purpose to state when applying for the visa?

I had a question regarding which is the better purpose to state for a visa; going for a clerkship/externship with a letter from the place where I'm going to do the USCE OR going to take the CS exam with the registration papers of the exam? Which one has lesser chance of being rejected?

I did read on a thread in the forums that the CS and an externship can be done under the same visa, please correct me if I'm wrong. So I have plans of doing CS, one, or if possible a few more, externships and possibly Step 3 too in one trip to the US. Would it be possible to obtain a visa for a period long enough to allow me to do these and will it be risky to state my other plans (such telling them I might to do an externship when I've applied with the purpose of taking the CS)? I wonder if my plans of doing CS, externship & step 3 in one stay is too unrealistic

I have had a bad experience of visa refusal by the Australian Consulate for which I wasn't able to start my MBBS course at an Oz uni in time and had to drop it! There weren't any red markers on me as far as I could see(no criminal record, had assets in my country..) except for maybe the fact that I was from a Muslim country (Bangladesh) labeled for possible production place for terrorists! So I have this phobia of not getting a visa and want to make sure that I have a very strong application the next time I'm applying:eek:

Sorry for filling the post with an irrelevant story! Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

@jeesan. There is nothing like if you are from Muslim country, then you can't get visa. There are many examples where many people from Muslim country have gone to USA. There are bad people all over the world but that doesn't make all humans bad.
So just chill :)
