I mean the mark sheet ... while some others have not ... Is this required? I didn't quite understand it from the information provided.. Can anyone please help me? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I just went through the ECFMG website again and found a section under FAQs that answers this question:

http://www.ecfmg.org/2011ib/ibfaq.html

It says:

"27. Do I need to send my final medical school transcript to ECFMG?

When ECFMG sends your medical diploma to your medical school for verification, ECFMG will request the medical school to include your final medical school transcript when the school returns the verification of your medical diploma to ECFMG. If ECFMG is unable to obtain your final medical school transcript directly from your medical school, ECFMG will contact you and request that you submit to ECFMG two photocopies of your final medical school transcript. You must also send two photocopies of the final medical school transcript to ECFMG if ECFMG has previously verified your medical diploma with your medical school but not the final medical school transcript. In these instances, ECFMG will then send a copy of your final medical school transcript to your medical school for verification. See Provision of Credentials and Translations."

If I'm not mistaken, I think it is the "medical school" and not us that verifies and sends the medical school transcript. Also in the check list of the forms we have to fill, there isn't one for a medical school transcript.

So, I think ECFMG would not reject the application even if we did not send the transcript although in your case, they accepted it with the transcript.

Everyone says the application is so easy but I'm finding it so arduous.

Thanks for your reply anyway. Good luck!

I submitted the forms asked for and I got a mail from the ECFMG asking for my medical transcript and an additional photo. So yeah, just send your transcript too.
ECFMG asks to send only degree certificate photocopies and a photo.Do I need to send record of marksheet and internship completion certificate along with transcript and degree certificate?I am from India.
I dont know what is record of marksheet but my college staff told me that they have seperated this portion from transcript and giving it as seperate document..I hope you understand my question.

Hi Priyank,
Well I dont know what marksheet is, but a transcript is a document with all your four years marks on it.If your college dint provide you with it, I think you can send your mark sheets. In the application they did not ask for the transcript, but later on the asked me for one and an additional photo. You dont have to send your internship completion document.

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your input. As far as I understand, we don't need to send the transcript (or mark sheet), but like everyone has advised, it is better to send it just to be on the safe side. Actually, some of my friends' applications have been accepted without the transcripts. After Step 1 and 2, when the ECFMG has to issue the certification, it sends requests to our medical colleges to verify and send the transcripts. I asked the people at my medical college and they told me that such a request for document does come later.

Anyways, I have written to ECFMG via e-mail and asked about this in detail. It's been about a week since I wrote and they typically answer in 2 weeks, so I'll let you guys know what they have to say in this same thread.

Hope this has helped clear some confusion. Best of luck to all of you.

You don't need to send the transcript. Your medical school does that.

First you give all the required documents to your medical school and they will stamp and sign them where required and then seal them in an envelope. Then its mailed to the ECFMG. The ECFMG then contacts your medical school for verification of these documents, plus it would ask them to include the transcripts and any other verification documents that they need. You don't have to do it, your medical school will do it. So now your school would send the docs again to ECFMG either through ESMWP or through regular mail. The ECFMG would then verify them and then you are all set! :)
During this process you can call your medical school to check your progress and check your ECFMG account as well.
This verification process runs separately to your exam eligibility period and your examination permit may be issued before even your complete verification has occurred.
Still I would advise you to call or email ECFMG (as you have already done), because each medical school has its own way of dealing with ECFMG.

Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your suggestions. Yes, this is also how I understood it. It's just reassuring hearing from someone else. Like I said, I'll post the ECFMG reply once I get it.

Good luck to you too!

Official reply from ECFMG

Hi everyone. So I got this reply from ECFMG via e-mail today regarding the transcripts. I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding about us having to send the transcripts or not. :)

Dear Doctor,

Please note that when ECFMG® sends your medical diploma to your medical school for verification, ECFMG will request the medical school to include your final medical school transcript when the school returns the verification of your medical diploma to ECFMG. Therefore you need not submit your transcript documents separately to ECFMG.

Sincerely,

[email protected]
