Some programs are still old-fashioned and they don't believe in technology yet.
You have program coordinators who have been working in the same position for the last 25 years and they are not yet accustomed to the wonders of ERAS. Such PCs may require you to bring over your documents to the interview.
Some others may require documents just to make sure like for example they want to see your green card or the PHD degree that you claimed ...etc
