I applied for a USMLE/ECFMG ID and password about two weeks ago .. got them .. logged in and changed the password as usual then logged in with the new password : every thing is ok

today, i tried to log in again, but for my surprise, i couldn't!
i though that may be I forgot my password, so I asked for a new password, got the email with the new password after like 30 minutes, tried to log in : again, I couldn't!
I tried to call the phone number in the log in page for help but the answer machine kept saying that they have a system problem and they are unable to process my call right now!

Help please : what should I do!!
any one had a similar story?!

Don't worry

Yeah, this has happened frequently in the past.

Sometimes the ECFMG server gets busy and shuts down.

Don't worry about it. Just leave it and try to log on tomorrow.

If tomorrow you can't log in then call them. What I mean by tomorrow is Monday July 19 US central time, which is GMT -6.

i just checked with my colleagues ... they are in my area, and still they can access their accounts !!

i guess it's not a server problem :((

Still, Don't worry ...

Clear your browser's cache, reset your computer, and then try logging in using a different browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome.

Also, that fact that your local colleagues can access their accounts does not exclude a database issue in their server. Websites such as ECFMG and this website for example maintains a database of user accounts and passwords. If the database get corrupted (common occurance in busy websites) then some of the accounts (not all accounts) can be affected.

They will usually get to know about it next Monday and then they can fix the database via a process called "database repair".

By all means, there's no reason for you freak out. The fact that you cannot log in does not mean that you account is gone or that they fired you :p

Relax, take a cup of coffee and am 100% the problem will be over tomorrow ;)

Try to log in with the old password. Maybe the new password is not yet updated in their server.

thanks all . In fact, I tried most of the hints you mentioned.
I sent them an email explaining what happened. I will try tomorrow to log in again, hopefully this will be solved by then.

Thanks all again, you were really helpful :)

Hi .. I am sorry to hear that. Actually I reset my password using the ECFMG website. The problem turned out to be that my password was too complicated ! I used a long combination of numbers and characters and when I used a simpler password everything went fine!

I did that from the IWA website .. there is a link for those who forgot their password . It worked in my case. If it didn't work with you then i think your case is different and you need to call ECFMG. sorry

Hi, how many days did it take you to be able to log in to your account with the new password that ecfmg has sent you in your email? When you were having problems logging in, did the website state "Session has ended"?
