Hey guys

I'm a final year med student from England, UK.

I am seeking (preferably) university programs that take international students for Internal Medicine Sub Internships.

I am looking to do the SubI roughly between June 5 and July 5, 2011.

However, I have not done Step 1 yet, and I know many programs require step 1.

I already have 4 weeks clinical experience doing an Internal Medicine sub internship at St John Providence Hospital, MI. My attending was the Associate Program Director of Internal Medicine and he promised to give me an LOR but even though I asked several times I have not had one.

I also did 2 weeks of Cardiology with a contact in Michigan also, and getting a good LOR from him will be fine when the time comes.

However I want more experience and another LOR from a different doctor in the US, preferably from a university program.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to which places to apply to? I know I can search a lot of this, but as regulars on this forum, you must have been asked this question before, and I'm sure will have some information to impart to me!

Hi, I was just wondering how did you get the internal medicine sub-internship at St John Providence Hospital, MI. From what I've read on their website: http://www.stjohnprovidence.org/Providence/MedicalEducation/SeniorElectives/ they dont accept students studying in England for electives. I am also interested in doing a internal medicine sub-internship here. Thanks alot

Dulbee - I have looked at it (it was posted after I posted this message). I will start phoning people after Jan 5th as all offices are closed because of Christmas/New Year period right now. Thanks

Androide - I just phoned them and asked them for my eligibility. Also I have an uncle who is a Cardiologist there who also liaised with them. Honestly I don't think he particularly made much difference and had I done it all myself I still think they would have accepted me. They say Step 1 is required too, but I haven't done it yet and they still took me.
