ERAS Photo is blurry after upload

The photo I took was with a DSLR camera and is about 758 kb in size and is quite nice even when zoomed in. However, when I upload it either on OASIS or with the MyECFMG app, it becomes not as clear.

It says the maximum file size is 100 kb, but it allows it even though my pic size is 758 kb. I'm assuming it's automatically reducing the size which is making it blurry.

So in that case is everyone's photo somewhat blurry in the eras photo? Thanks :D

I would resize it to be 100kb or less before uploading so that there is not any image processing on their side,
there are several sites that can do it for you. See if that helps

Heres one of many: http://compressjpeg.com/
you should have made the pic to 100 kb size and then you should submitted it
That's weird. I did do that and it still got blurry after uploading, even though after resizing and compressing it, it looked fine. However, I plan to retake the photo anyway so I'll reply in this thread again if the new photo also has the same problem.

How do you know the photo is blurred?

For me, the only place I can see my photo in the system is in the upper right corner. That photo is really small. When I click on the icon, it will not show a larger version. Based on that small icon, I cannot tell whether my photo is blurred or not. Do you mind sharing how to look at the uploaded photo in a bigger way?

Thanks!

In the MyECFMG app, that's where you can see it enlarged enough to tell if there's a blur. In the myERAS website, you can't tell because it's so small, just as you've pointed out.

Thanks! Super helpful!
Even you retake the photo, and if you're resizing using the same software, I would suspect that you have the same blurred results. I used ACDSee to resize. Maybe you can try some other software to do the resize?

Well, actually I want to retake the photo due to other personal reasons. I will try you guys' software suggestions next time I'm editing. Thanks!
I retook my photo the way I wanted, and even after using all of you guys' advice by resizing to below 100 kb prior to uploading, the picture always becomes blurred right after uploading. The file is 100 kb on my phone and pc, and looks great. As soon as I upload, it gets blurred.

It's barely noticeable on that small little icon in MyERAS website, but is noticeable on the MyECFMG app. I'm afraid when programs load up my pic on the projector to discuss ranking, it'll be blurred.

I've already contacted ERAS about it and will keep you guys posted.

Well I had no issues logging in, so I can't help you there. But they said if ERAS has not contacted you regarding the picture it means it's not blurry or messed up enough to matter, so I just decided to leave it alone.

If your eras photo blurry or have eras error message when uploading visit Studio RedLeaf’s eras and vsas residency photo resize help page.
Maybe someone knows where I can find cool autographs for my album?
