The only time you fail is when you quit.

1 test isn't going to change your future unless you let it.

So you failed a test, there are countless people out there that have failed their exams and still went on to be great doctors.

What is going to seperate you from the other people? Is it to fight through adversity? keeping a positive attitude towards things? You can use this exam as a positive experience and to use it toward your advantage. You failed, you overcame adversity, you didn't quit, and that is what residencies want, people who don't quit and can see through the hard times.

this is one test, 20 years from now you won't even remember what you scored.

keep the wheel straight, get back on the horse and fix where you went wrong. one test isn't going to ruin you, you'll be fine.

I know doctors that failed their usmle step 1 five times and are practicing. One is in Wyoming and is a OB/GYN, jsut completed his residency. He scored a 75 just passing and still got what he wanted. He did all his stuff in Wyoming

I know another doctor that failed their usmle 3 times and is practicing in orlando Florida in Critical Care. He also just finished his res. He did his res in Georgia

If you don't care where you go then you will be fine.

See, you cannot get discouraged. If at the first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again.

Ask God for help. To make things easier.

I personally have met people who are in residency who have failed not once, but twice. And my friend told me about a very close friend of hers that got into surgery failing twice!!! No USCE, no research. I'm thinking she gave a hell of an interview. Just don't let this go. Try as much as you can and go for it again. Everything, good or bad, serves us as experience, and we should learn from each one of them. Good Luck. :p
