I failed my cs exam
I dont know what went wrong

I failed in communication and interpersonal skills (CIS) only that mean
1- data gathering
2- professional manner (border line )
3- information sharing
what went wrong I dont know

plz help me what to do how to enhance my self to pass cs exam
plz help i have no one to help just this forum
I am lost i never failed in my life
maybe because it was my 1st time to deal with American patient ( i came to USA 4 days b4 exam ) ' i did some mistakes

1- forget gloves in my hand 2 encounter
2- forget foot step in 1 patient
3- did not enclose in 1 patient
4- didn't answer challenge question no time for it
5- my voice was low i couldn't raise it
6- i consult all for everything
7- forget to ask about back pain related to case because no time
8- cause one patient to scream when i ask him to sit and i said sorry for causing pain


plz help what to do

do i have to do observership or externship in usa ?

i m so sorry about your result but calm down and please understand that this is just one exam in your life. you know your shortcomings so the next time you take it you ll rock the exam.
there are lots of people who failed cs but matched into respectable programs.
as far as CIS is concerned
summarize to the patient
make small talk
always make the patient more comfortable during pe
ask if he has any questions or concerns
ask a min of 3 open ended qns
speak in a clear confident voice
dont let the sp know that you are having an arrythmia in exam
i belive you passed in sep and ice

dont let this effect your confidence.you worked too hard to be in a state you are today.take a day off and think about your mistakes and practice cases with partners.

Sorry to hear that miss patho, i would say don't take any chances and go with the most successful material for this exam:

FA new edition
UW cases!! (this are very good)

Plus, i would advice you, don't take any other chances, either get a successful high performance partner, or pay a review course. Either will tell you what they think you could improve.

Plus this time, get a live partner, many practice through Skype, it helped me big time, but the live partner is better, it gives you a real life time prospective.

Start from Cero for this prep, at least 3-4 weeks. Don't take chances.

mite have got one or two wrong diagnosis...
didnt close in one pt

everything else...i did right..knocking, draping, foot rest, hand wash, system related PE, closure...blah blah...

have a double 99...one us LOR...
wa are my chances if i clear it the second time???

The most imp factor acc to my limited experience is your factor no. 5

i know a friend who matched(psychiatry) after 1 failed cs attempt and 1 failed step 1 attempt,it is a composite score.
try to evaluate pros and cons of entering the cs second time.

You may take the same examination no more than three times within a 12-month period. Your fourth and subsequent attempts must be at least 12 months after your first attempt at that exam and at least six months after your most recent attempt at that exam. Attempts at that examination (complete and incomplete) prior to January 1, 2012 will be counted in determining whether these rules apply.
When you reapply, your exam eligibility period will be adjusted, if necessary, to comply with these rules.
