While I was doing my tests in Kaplan qbank I noticed something really strange.

In their explanation tabs they put exact page reference of First Aid 2008 and First Aid 2009 of the relevant concept or material!

How come such USMLE education giant putting hints to a competitor?

Here's the screenshot

I think this merely a great service from Kaplan
Because they know that you have been reading FA, so here you are take the references to what you have been reading.

But

More and more questions are having only medEssentials references only, basically hinting us "Hey, medEssentials could be better for you"

Maybe Kaplan has a share in the First Aid profits, who says they are not competitors

I think is because they have seen the risen shift of some of the step takers to USMLE Rx. USMLE Rx even has the exact page shown below, not just the reference, but the exact First Aid page! And so students who studied using First Aid may want to start considering shifting to Rx. So now Kaplan says "Hey, you can refer to First Aid through us too!":)

What ever they were doing! But don't you all think that knowledge of Firs Aid is necessary. In any case of injury First Aid should be the first step, but many don;t know a single step of it. It important for me so i am upgrading my knowledge about First Aid through a website..And I wish you all too learn about First Aid..

Erm, what do you mean by upgrading your knowledge about First Aid through a website? You mean you signed up for the USMLE Rx Flash Facts?

Dear Hadley,
What we mean in this forum by First Aid is First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 it's a book written by a group of doctors that gives high yield information about USMLE in the form of figures, lists, tables, mnemonics, tips, ...etc.

Here's the link for the book as it can be purchased from Amazon.

We don't mean First Aid "the first responding resuscitation measure"

Haha, oh gosh. I misinterpreted Hadley's message. It seemed so funny when someone do not understand our USMLE "lingo". IE : BRS/Goljan/Qbank/First Aid etc.

Well, its also our fault for sometimes just assuming anyone in the USMLE forums would know what those specific words mean. :D

Don't you get it guys
That guy Hadley just wanted to advertise his website that he mentions in his signature
*smacks my own head* Lol, superwild, you really are observant!!:p

So funny that people will just jump from forum to forum to advertise things. I am sure the moderators will do something about this.
