Form 186

There's a new rule from the ECFMG and here's a quote:
-------------------------------
Before ECFMG will register a medical school graduate for USMLE, or extend his/her Step 1/Step 2 CK eligibility period, ECFMG must receive verification of the applicant's status as a medical school graduate directly from his/her medical school. ECFMG will not register a medical school graduate for USMLE, or extend his/her eligibility period, without verification of the applicant's graduate status.

This graduate status will be verified in one of three ways:

- ECFMG receives primary-source verification of the applicant's medical education credentials; or
- The medical school verifies the applicant's graduate status through the ECFMG Medical School Web Portal (EMSWP); or
- The medical school verifies the applicant's graduate status through the applicant's Certification of Identification Form (Form 186).
------------------------
Now most likely what happened with you is that you applied for an exam and has verified Form 186 before your school verifies your credentials. At that time it was OK you can apply. Now not any more
But since your application already accepted for the exam then they cannot ban you from that exam but you are not allowed to extend or apply to another step until you get one of the three points mentioned above.

in order to do the forms 186 and others, do i need to apply for step exam?
i just paid the 65$ but dunno how to proceed now, in order to send the diploma and have my credentials verified, i have to apply for one of the exams or i can just download the forms, fill and send, please advise. thank you
I am also processing my Form 186-Notary Public .They have asked me to resend my documents since the last form that i sent was signed incorrectly. I dont understand what i did wrong. The previous form as requested was signed by a consular official from the Indian Embassy.
Any comments or help?

Just go to any nearest Notary Public/Advocate.
Make sure the date you fill should be the same as your notary public writes! Its basically confirmation that form has been signed in the presence of Notary Public. Do read Bulletin Or send me PM if needed.

BTW How you've managed to get your full name and USMLE ID no. on the back of the photographs?
According to current standard they require to be printed? Or how have you managed?
