hy guyssss

I graduated from Lahore 2 yrs ago.. moved to new york recently

I have started step 1 prep 2 months ago
and so far am only done with physio kaplan 1st reading n half biochem kaplan :(

I am really depressed and feel like I can't do steps coz am not doing so well

when I started it ..I planned to take step 1 in March
now it seems impossible

Now I seriously need any advice what should be ideal time for me to give step 1 so that I can set a goal

My confidence level has dropped leaps n bounds :(((((

thanks..

it depends on you

I think there are two types of students:
those who study hard and more rapidly when they are under pressure and others who study in quite steady fasion
if you are one of the first group, like me, your rate of study will increase steeply so you should not worry but if you think you have really done your best since you started study, I think it's better to postpone
remember, Q banks need much time and maybe you will need to read study notes again after them
One of the best features of USMLE exams is that you can freely choose exam date.
Good luck

Welcome to USMLE Forums :)
Your are not alone in this. Most students do feel depressed and face tremendous difficulties early on during the preparation. The USMLE Step 1 exam is a huge task and not everybody can do it. The fact that you have started already and that you made it to New York means that you overcome the biggest obstacles.

Read this http://www.usmle-forums.com/general-topics-forum/266-avoiding-depression.html and read this http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-step-1-forum/471-cant-remember-anything.html and read this http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-articles/1529-usmle-forgetfulness-syndrome.html

You'll pick up pace gradually.

Try to do some questions after finishing each book, it will help you solidify concepts and gives you some confidence.

Am sure you'll come back to this forum after few months and tell us about your great score ;)
