Hey guys need a guideline for pathology ...loads of my friends find this really confusing
and every second person is asking this question ..so I thought to start a poll...

Moreover, which lectures notes and audio makes a best combo ?

Goljan Pathology RR (all) + Goljan Audio lectures

That's more than sufficient.

People are making a fuss about pathology and Goljan. I read Kaplan notes and watched the videos, read FA, and did questions, and that was enough. My scores were highest in pathology (reaching up to 82% correct). But it's worth noting that all pathology questions are presented in a clinical scenario format that makes them more or less like internal medicine, and I was very good at it in med school.

Many of my friends who used Kaplan, and not Goljan, got 99s.

Someone once told me that it's not about the books, but about who is reading the books. So any book would do as long as you study smart. Go with the book you feel more comfortable with.

Kaplan is enough and you don't need to bother about Goljan

agreed : kaplan pathology ideally sized for multiple quick reviews.despite this it doesnt miss much. goljan can be extremely formidable to revise twice and not enough marginal benefit.

what do you think about one learning the two all together if time is not a problem. do you thing it's advisable. would that be better of?

I don't know. But many people recommend sticking to one main book. Some people read Kaplan and listen to Goljan audio lectures. Haven't tried that either. For the USMLE, remember that Qbanks are the key for solidifying your knowledge. Books just serve as an introduction.

Goljan is more than a pathology book... When you read it, you enjoy the links he makes among subjects.. in fact, Goljan underestimated his book by titling it "pathology" !!! some physiology subjects are writtten in Goljan better than their similar subjects in physiology book of Kaplan ( like water and electrolytes control by the kidneys for example ).. after digesting RR pathology , reading medicine is a picnic. the miracle is how it is included in relatively small size with great detailed contents!

yup wat mahganem said is 110% true i would recommend goljan over kaplan...the concepts and the mechanisms are just awesome the way goljan teaches,the way he comprehends is just awesome
