:redcheeks; Hi,

It's my 3rd readings going on and am supposed to give exam after two months. Though I tried very hard to study all the time but am unable to speed up my reading. Its taking me so long.....I too planned to finish my 3rd read in 40 days as do most people guide.
But I could not fulfill.
In 40 days I've just done through half of my 3rd reading ..

It really is making me to underestimate myself .N am getting UW score 60-65 only.
I am feeling I can't do step 1  can any body guide me how to make over in these two months.

You are going really good

Hey Doctor Queen!

This thing occured to most of us.... scoring 60-65 in UW is a fantastic sign to get a score of more than ninety:p.... just carry on ur third read and I would like to recommend you to do NBME form 6 after ur third read. Because it will further tell you where you stand in your journey....

You can do it in the best way possible and are really gonna be the queen of USMLE ......:cool: ..... go ahead.......

Don't follow to a "T" what other people tell you. Everyone works at their own pace, some people are slower readers than others. You're not reading a book just to get 3 reads out of it, you want to read the book to get information out of it. If that takes 1 reading or 5 readings, the point is- are u really ready for the exam after this read? or are u just trying to do what others suggested, because most times that doesn't work for the individual.

People will disagree with this next statement, but I'll go to deaths door believing this. This is the problem with setting a date to take your exam way in advance. You fall behind and now are getting frustrated, which makes things way more stressful and thus don't learn as much as you could be.

To speed up your reading, you will have to cut some stuff out. Go into your FA and use that as a guide. Most everything in first aid is high yield. Somethings in your reading are low yield and thus you should be using first aid as a guide to pick and choose what you should be reading and what you should be leaving.

Thanks alot.........

Thanks Peewee,
It means in my last month I should go through FA only???..bcz I've done my previous reads within the capacity of my full potential.
Not merely I did to go through them only but did them as fully conceptual reads.
Actually I just need a rapid way to revise things so I could not forget them.
Bcz as I read whole stuff of texts it takes time even to go through them............

Oh for sure, use only FA and qbank questions during your last few weeks of prep time. FA should have tons of notes in it from you, so I see nothing wrong with that. But make sure you are still doing qbank questions to stay sharp.

Agree Pewee

I agree Pewee, except for the last paragraph..... I had three reads to Kaplan Notes and two to UW and FA.... Another guy had 5 reads to all..... I got 95, whereas he got 90.....So do not compare urself fully with others... Not all the fingers of the hand r equal..... Just carry on ur study as quick as u can and if u r really short of time then think upon Pewee's last paragraph.....
