Hormone Receptors

Important to remember the location of various hormone receptors in the cell as this is frequently asked in USMLE Step 1.

Hormones that have nuclear receptors are:
Thyroid hormone, Retiniods, and Peroxisomal proliferating activating receptors.

Hormones that have cytoplasmic receptors are:
All steroid hormones such as androgens, estrogen, glucocortoids, mineralocorticoids, ...etc

Hormones that have membrane receptors are:
All others, such as peptide hormones, catecholamines, ANP, insuline, NO, drugs, and many others.

NO doesn't have a membrane receptor.
