Your poll is not valid
It should differentiate between those who are taking USMLE step 3 during residency from those who are taking it before residency as the time frame would be significantly different between those two situations.
I agree 100% with you

Most people that write step 3 study while either in Residency or while doing some kind of other jobs. or at least that is my assumption.
so one month of studying could mean:
12hrs/day = 360hrs in total
or 2-3hrs/day = less than 100hrs in total?

also 10hours of studying can be 'focused studying' or while your msn is on and texting your buddies at the same time.

that is why time is relative

i am personally going for two-three months ..don't wanna take chance and end up with low score..
good luck everyone and it would be highly helpful if the past exam givers may share their experience on step 3 ..

3 1/2 Months

Hi, I'm an IMG from Europe and I just passed USMLE Step 3. It took me 3 1/2 months to prepare for this exam and I got 209 and I'm ecstatic that this process is finally over!!! :D For preparation I read Master the Boards USLME Step 3 once. I did USMLE World Qbank twice and USMLE World CCS cases twice. Make sure to do all 90+ cases plus the 6 from the USMLE.org website. I felt very comfortable with almost all of the cases I had on the real exam. I also did USMLE World self assessment twice. First time I got 207, second time I got around 260 (which is not accurate bc I remembered a lot of the questions). I did not use NBME for Step 3 bc my experience using NBME for Step 2 CK was that you cannot really learn anything from them. All NBME is good for is to give you a score, but USMLE World gives you an accurate score and you can review the questions. Best of luck!!!

I am doing full time research and planning to give my step 3 in july end or august 1st week. I usually get 40 hours of study a week. I dont know if that amount of time is sufficient or not. I am done with ccs first time and about to finish uworld in 10 days. still I am worried that is it enough ?
