Dear members,

Please be informed that NBME questions are copyrighted materials and the NBME does not allow sharing these questions. Here's a quote from the official NBME website
The materials presented on the self-assessments are owned and copyrighted by the NBME. Participants may not transfer or reproduce self-assessment materials in any way without permission from the NBME. Any unauthorized transfer or reproduction of these materials, by any means, including but not limited to, storage in a retrieval system, transmission, printing, memorization, or distribution is strictly prohibited.
We have deleted the NBME questions that we have found posted and we'll continue to screen the forums for other NBME question posts and delete them as we find them.

The only exception is perhaps NBME Form 1, Form 2, Form 3, and Form 4 as these have been removed from the official website and therefore their copyrights have expired.

It's OK to discuss a concept that you did not understand from an NBME question or talk about a theme or topic or high yield information, You can refer to question number and discuss the answer only, but you are not allowed to copy paste the question and post if for discussion.

We urge you to refrain from posting NBME questions.

We at USMLE Forums take copyright issues very seriously and we also care about our members and we don't want them to engage in illegal acts. For more information please read our Copyright Policy.

There are other websites and forums that do allow posting such questions, you can post them there, at your own risk. Here in this website, NBME questions are no longer tolerated.

For more information about the NBME self assessment tests please read here
http://www.usmle-forums.com/general...eads/151-about-official-nbme-tests-forms.html

For the reasons why it's bad for you to do the illegal offline NBME, please read here
http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-s...ads/4597-nbme-offline-versus-nbme-online.html

Also, remember, the NBME forms are not useful as a review material, these questions won't be replicated in the real exam and there are no official reliable answers and explanations for them. The NBME Self Assessment Tests are meant to assess your readiness for the exam and they are not useful for any other purpose.

Good Talk

I think it is out of unbriddled enthusiasm and exuberance taking too far that people post NBME questions - I believe those who did never intended any harm.
Anyway, the message is clear: no room for illegality on this forum, period.

Thanks for the information

I agree with not posting NBME questions on the forum. Yet, when you do those questions, there comes no answers or explanations if you got it wrong. We need to have a way to discuss them somehow. Any suggestions?

You don't need to have to discuss them. The NBME Forms are meant to assess your performance and predict your future score, they should not be viewed as review material.
The alternative is to subscribe to commerically available question banks in which answers and explanations are available "legally".

A professor in my medical school told me that the NBME and ECFMG are filing copyright claims and are looking after students and IMGs who are posting the questions online. When they find someone, they permanently annotate his USMLE records "engaged in irregular behavior". Such annotation is enough to ruin your entire medical career because most universities and hospitals will not hire you when they find such record.

Perhaps, this website has been investigated by the NBME folks and that's why they are putting this announcement :p

We have not been approached by the NBME or the ECFMG or any other official regulatory body. We posted this announcement because this is what we believe in. We want to maintain the intergrity and professionalism of this website.
Members who have previously posted NBME questions are not under any risk. We maintain the privacy of our members, for more information read our privacy policy.

Though it is a performance assessment, there are still valuable questions. So it should be treated as an equal learning opportunity as many others. We did pay for the question sets. It is only fair for us to know what we got wrong so we could re-emphasize our studies. Maybe we should negotiate with NBME to at least give us the questions we got wrong. Then all of us will for sure shut our mouths.
