Has anyone here taken the Kaplan Comprehensive exam? My school requires that we get a 47% on it. Just wanted to hear people's opinions about it.

Never heard of it and I don't think there's such thing.

Double check with your school, let them give you the website at least!

It's not Kaplan comprehensive exam, it's the NBME comprehensive exam. This is a four blocks of questions that is given from the NBME to your medical school and your medical school will check your percentage.

Getting 50% is very tough in that exam.

My school requested 55% to pass and many people fail.

Good luck

Kaplan has a comp exam they make you do before you start one of their courses - did they mean that? If that's the case, if you log in to your kaplan site (www.kaplanmedical.com/usmle then click on "My Kaplan") You'll see the link for comprehensive exam -To get this though, you have to be all paid up and set up accordingly from Kaplan, I think, and subscribed to one of their packages like liveprep / webprep / centreprep etc... Does your school include Kaplan?

What you are talking about is the individual commercial Kaplan for students. This guy is saying that his med school is asking him to take a comprehensive exam. This is not done by a commercial company such as Kaplan. This is done by the med school and they take the questions directly from the NBME. Have a look here http://www.nbme.org/Schools/cas.html

True, Mary - our school made us do the NBME comp too, but some schools have Kaplan built in to their MD5 curriculum so that they essentially pay for part of a Kaplan subscription as part of their tuition fees... I believe either St. James or Xavier used to do that but I don`t remember for sure.

You`re right though - it`s far more common for schools to make you write one of the NBME forms -thats what my school did...

kaplan comp

Hey guys, Its not the NBME comp. We have to take that one as well and get a 64 to pass. I already took that one. This Kaplan comp exam, apparently is 8 hours long, on the computer, and simulates a real USMLE exam. Im not sure if Kaplan just gives our school the questions and we take it, but its taken in our schools computer lab. Its not related to NBME whatsoever.

Our school supplies kaplan to us, and we had to take a diagnostic exam before we started the semester. I dont think its the Comp exam on the website, we have to take it in our school's computer lab.
