Kaplan medEssentials is a golden 544 pages that we should all use.

I know that most of you are reading Kaplan Lectures Notes + FA, but believe me this book can replace both!

Kaplan medEssentials basically includes all the awesome charts, figures, tables and diagrams that are there in the lecture notes presented in a concise super high yield concentrated material.

Personally, I did not like First Aid because it presents the facts in a disorganized confusing fashion.

For any medical student, I highly recommend you start annotating this book right from your first year in medical school.

So the medEssentials is even better than Kaplan lectures notes because it packs the highest yields in less number of pages and it is sold legally by Kaplan while the lecture notes you have to buy it used.

Note: am not affiliated with Kaplan, this is just my personal opinion

You can purchase Kaplan medEssentials from Amazon for $33 which is cheaper than First Aid ;)

I totally agree
Kaplan medEssential has more details than FA and it's a super high yield book worth buying for step 1

Does this mean by using MedEssentials, we can discard our Kaplan Lecture Notes too? Are all the content from the Kaplan Lecture notes inside? Can we base the Kaplan videos on MedEssentials instead of KLN LN?

It has all the figures, charts, and tables that you see in the notes
If you are in a hurry, yes it can replace the notes
basically it replaces your First Aid, but if you still need a comprehensive review then you still need to do the notes and lectures

Oh I see. Does it have all the information that First Aid has? Because if it does have all the info first aid has, but even arranged it in a much better fashion than first aid, then i think it truly is one hella good book.

Honestly, no
It does not have all the information that's there in FA

If you have time read them both and annotate one of them into the other

I suggest adding notes from FA into Kaplan medEssentials

HI step1 ! i have seen kaplan medessential in a book store. I just saw its few random pages. Its a nice book. Its looks simple. Do you use it for step 1 preparations? I want to do fast preparation for step 1, so having less time. Is it will be good for me if I do low yeild subjects directly from medessential instead of kaplan lecture notes and then read FA?

Good for current students only

It can replace it if you are a medical student like me
But if you are a grad, then obviously you forgot all the basic sciences materials and you need books that remind you of all those info and in that case I don't think Kaplan MedEssentials will work for you.

i am left with these subjects which i will do from.... patho(goljan), micro/immuno(medessential), behavioral sciences(medessential). and i would consider kaplan medessential as my comprehensive book and revise it as many times as people revise FA(i am not doing FA coz i didn't like FA pattern).

2)is it a good idea to solely rely on medessential after completing kaplan lecture notes for once.or do i need to consider some other book also. like revising kaplan lecture notes or FA.
