Matched in Psych!

Eh, I know it's a little late, but I want to share my credentials hoping it will be helpful to others:

Grad Year - 2013
Step 1: 229
Step 2CK: 217
Step 2CS: Passed
All first attempts

Had USCE from medical school and did research in between graduation and being matched. Had around 18 interviews (1 was prematch). I believe good LOR's and a good Personal statement really helped me. Good luck to all future applicants!

NO I am Pending GC. I mentioned that 4-5 interviews where to the programs that didnot grant visa. meaning i got those cause i don;t need visa. and almost most of the programs i received emails after emailing them. and check that vacancy site often sometimes preliminary intern years do pop out there.
Hi Congrats on matching!

How does this residency vacancy site help?
Hi Congrats on matching!

How does this residency vacancy site help?
vacancies show up outside match mostly after PGY1 year but sometimes they have prelim and PGY1 spots too. its official residency and fellowship vacancy site posted by programs. check it and you will see

How did you do in your steps to get accepted in surgery?
Guys did you receive any email from program? For me it is complete radio silence. Should I email to PC or PD or it is prudent to wait for the next week?
I think you should reach out to PC

can you update me regarding SOAP, is it no longer available for IMGs?
can you update me regarding SOAP, is it no longer available for IMGs?
SOAP is for around two days for unmatched applicants happening between the first day when everyone receives emails just with YOU matched or you didnot match status and the MATCH day when everyone knows where y get into. in SOAP positions are filled mostly with unmatched AMGs and then its over.

Hello everyone! I need an advice, I am done with my step 1 and step 2 ck with good scores 245+. I am 2014 graduate. Is it prudent for me to wait a year before applying to the match as next year I wont be needing a visa? Given the fact that i can also apply in the coming match. I am so confused and don't know what to do. Please can anyone give me a sincere opinion that waiting one year for green card is worth the wait keeping in view all the j1 and h1 restrictions? i greatly appreciate any inputs.

In my opinion, with those good scores, just 1 year of graduation and the fact you will have a US green card for next year, it's a good idea to wait. However, take your CS soon and then your Step 3, as your knowledge is solid and still fresh. If you plan for a rotation, do it. With all those points on your favor you will match on the next year for sure Happy-2

Yeah, I agree with Dr. Isabel. Since you're a fresh graduate with good scores, I'd wait till you get your green card. Keep in mind that "green card pending" is sufficient for you to apply. You just need to have the work permit before residency starts and not the green card itself. That's how I'm applying this year.
