MD Title obtaining method, by thesis or academic excellence?

Hi Everyone!
I am almost a medical graduate from Mexico, following my dream of doing a medical specialty in the US
I have a question about the value of getting my title by a thesis work or by academic excellence (average >9.0, on a scale from 0 to 10)
I could get my medical degree by any of these two methods, however, I will pursue the method which can be more advantageous in order to do match with any residency program I apply for
It is worth mentioning that I have been working on research for a while ago, and I have participated in research articles, also currently working on an extensive clinical trial, so publications will be assured.
