Transgenic mice are generated which are incapable of expressing beta 2 microglobulin. Which of the following components of host defense is most likely to be altered in these mice?

A- Complement
B- Cytotoxic T lymphocytes
C- Interleukin 2 (IL2) secretion
D- Natural killer cells
E- Neutrophils

isnt it LAD type 2??
and the answer is E??
Hey dr. muhamad I think beta2 microglobulin is part of the MHC 1 complex, which interacts with Cytotoxic t lymphocytes. So without this they probably cant be activated.

P.S in LAD 2 it is an integrin defect, not microglobulin.

oh thanks
i thought they r both microglobulin

i thought they r both microglobulin
I dont think so. I have read that LAD 1 is an integrin defect and LAD 2 a selectin defect, but extremely rare.
B...
beta2microglobulin is the part of the MHC1 that is not encoded in the HLA-gene-complex. the MHC1 is used as an 'ID' for cells, so they are left unharmed by the cytotoxic CD8.

hope I'm right:)
answer is B.cytotoxic T-cells.!
becoz MCH-1 is cytotoxic expressd on all the nucleatd cells in the body , beta2 micro transports antigen to cell surface through exogenous pathway and its not encoded in MCH1. so its mutation affects cytotoxic T cells.
Same here...

I think is B. I do not add anything more to the explanation, as the most important concepts have already been said.
correct ans in B.
