What is the mode of hypoxia in drowning..??
is it ventilation perfusion mismatch...or hypoventilation of peripheral origin..??

yup correct....less air is going in lung...so its a hypoventilation of peripheral origin...same thing happens in suffocation....pickwickian syndrome,chest trauma,phrenic nerve paralysis,acute poliomyelitis....

due to suffocation caused by a liquid entering the lungs and preventing the absorption of oxygen leading to cerebral hypoxia!
