Thanks for telling us your score. I think a lot of people choose not to report their score on the forum because "it's not a 99." I appreciate your honesty. :) As for residency, I'm sure you'll be fine. You can study well for Step 2 CK and perhaps see a therapist about your anxiety if you think that's the main reason why you didn't do as well as you liked. You could try learning biofeedback or meditation. I'm sure you'll get into a great residency just make sure you have some experience in American hospitals before applying. Good luck on your road ahead! :)

Quick question: What do you wish you had done differently in the days leading up to the exam or on the exam day?
(I hope this question doesn't bring up bad memories. My exam is coming in a few weeks so I'd love some advice from someone who took the exam recently.)

Good job!

Hey Good job...I think 86 is a great score...you have to remember that not everyone gets a 99...as someone mentioned above majority of the people that don't get a 99 don't report their score on this forum.

Well, I was wondering if you can please give us some details about your exam...

1. Which subjects were focused on (path, pharm, physio) and which were not (ex: biochem, anatomy, micro, etc).

2. How many images or media questions did you have? (were they do able without using the image/media?)

3. Which NBME form in your opinion seemed like most similar to your actual exam (as far as difficulty, structure of the questions, etc.)

4. Were there any repeated questions from the NBME forms on your actual exam (if so, from which forms?)

5. One last thing...can you please tell us what material did you use (books, qbanks, etc) to study? Also, what is your advise to do with a few weeks left till the exam (what should we be doing...FA, qbanks, etc?)

Thank you for your help and good luck with Step 2 CK

Hey congrats on getting the score and finishing with one of the most difficult exams of your life mate!

Its nice to know that you are concentrating on CK, please study wholeheartedly and you will do better on it, more so with your exam experience from Step 1. There are many programmes in US who look at your CK score more than Step 1, so be sure when you are applying for residency to find out such programmes. Also get some clinical experience in US and some strong LORs and you will be fine.

All the best!:)

Thanks for ur encouragement. how does step3 help in securing residency ?bcos am also thinking of taking it when am done with CK and CS. How long U.S clinical experience do is acceptable ?

for my exam experience i post it in this forum titled ''am back from exam''.
my exam was more of patho, micro, and pharm, then few questions from other subjects. u world concept and nbme were tested heavily. the exam was doable except my anxiety that spoilt my exam. the difficulty level is the same with nbme 6 and 7 but less difficult to u world Qs. some questions were long and about 20 were one liners while the rest were in btw. i cant remember how many slides i got and how many ct and MRI i got. but the pictures and slides were the cheapest questions for me bcos the stem of the questions usually gave them away.

what i regret not doing was taking a few minutes before opening my first block and also not reviewing any of the marked questions in each block. i had poor time management which i also had when i did my assessments. any thing u are not able to work on before tha exam may most likely affect ur performance. it happened to me as in poor time managament.

for the last week of the exam; 10 days before my exam i read FA and in btw go thru the numerous slides in my u world and nbme. it really helped me alot. i also tried to understand and memorize some pharm graphs .

the materials i used ;
kaplan for all subject except patho. which i used golgian and listened to the audio.
u world question bank
kaplan Qbook
wikitest prep
all nbme
went thru some questions posted on this forum
u world self assessment 1= 430/202 7wks be4 exam
u world self assessment 2= 540/228 4wks be4 exam
online nbme form 6 = 430/202 7wks be4 exam
online nbme form 5 =650/255 1 wk be4 exam.

the exam is a mixture of all the subject so every subject is very impt.

everybody wants to hit a high score which is a good thing i also wanted that high score. ur preparation may be good but what determines ur score is actually what happens on that exam day. with ur high score in ur assessment am sure if u manage ur time well and avoid silly mistakes u may surely hit ur dream score. i wish u the best. do another nbme to be double sure,i will suggest nbme 7 .

congratulations

i know u expected more n u should because u are very smart n what more from ur nbme n UW scores, but nonetheless, congratulations on passing it (with NOT a mere pass, which i know many people that have got).

good luck on ur step2ck. dont let anxiety get in the way.

i have a few questions for u tho, u didnt mention using FA (or did u in ur other posts?) . was FA useful (if u used it) n how many times did u go thru it? i'vre read thru it once fully n many times in bits n pieces n now im doing it 2nd time all again n yet i find that im learning to memorize new stuff. should i sit down n spend more time like doing SOLID memorizing like when we do before our exams in med school?

also, did u take the UWSA? what was ur score there? mine's 62%. n my exam's in 2 weeks. where do u think i stand?

ur time is much appreciated as u can prolly understand where i stand right now.

thank u.

oh ok. by FA i meant first aid. I hear it is very important to go over it. n I did benefit heaps from going over it. it allowed me to recall back everything I learned from Kaplan.

dude 245 is awesome. ur exam's in 2 days so that means u can do a lot of reading today especially for things that u've been keeping till the last minute n then tomo get up on time, relax, do a little bit (or none at all) reading till at about lunch, then just relax, sleep early, wake up early, pray n do well in ur exam. oh n i hear u are allowed to read up ur notes in btw yr blocks on the exam day at ur locker. so u can read up on stuff that u were forgetting. but DONT read up questions already done cos if u find out u got it wrong u will be disappointed. n memorize all the bacteria so u dont mix it up (most freq causes of pneumonia with age grps, etc)...

i guess im more excited now about ur exam.:indifferent:

good luck omar!
