hi everybody!

I took my step 1 exam a couple of days ago and didn't get the time to write about it since a few days so here it goes....

First of all a big thanks to all the members for all lovely threads..really helpful..

Now about my preparation..
time -> 6 months
books -> Kaplan for all subjects and first aid
Qbanks -> UWorld and Kaplan

my exam....
Well it was fairly fine exam..I don't know whether to say it was really good or bad because I can't seem to make anything out of it. I don't know how

First 2 blocks were average blocks ..I could do most questions fairly easily..the next three were a bit difficult...some questions were completely weird..but since I can't mention that just take my word for it..
the last 2 blocks were very easy..very straight forward questions.

The graphs and pictures and CT's and x rays were easy. Nothing complicated.

My suggestion would be read first aid in the last few days and definitely do NBME 7 .

I would say the exam was easier than uworld but similar to NBME 7.
it was not as easy as people would like u to think.
but can't really say much till I get my result..
how many days till the result, any idea??

I wish you an awesome score! : My report was ready in only 3 weeks but for some fellows it was up to or longer than 8 w. So, I guess that it depends on luck and how many step-takers are taking the exam the particular period :notsure:

n yea another thing wanted to ask was,as u did 2 qbanks,did u make notes of both of them on single FA??
like i am currently doing kaplan qbank,n i have a printed version of FA and m noting kaplan on it,n wen i do uworld i will note it on the other 1..do u think its a fine idea or shu i start noting the kaplan stuff also on the same..m just worried if i will be left with enough space for uworld..!!

kundra:: no, i did not read goljan pathology.
i did 2 qbanks and i found that uwolrd was more useful and closer to the exam like you i also made notes from uworld but on a separate notebook.i made very short 2-3 line notes...dnt make them 2 long otherwose u wudnt have the time to revise.i think it is a good idea to annonate ur first aid..use uworld for it if u want to use just one qbank.

drtareq:: i don't know if i am allowed to paste links here but i just did nbme 7.
google it and u will find a link.but i think it is better to take the online version
instead of the oofline one.

wasify81:: thank u!! my uworld score was 69% and kaplan was around 72%
i dint do any simulation or assessments expect nbme 7.
biostats was fairly east,direct questions.nthing unsual.
i had 2 audio ques..no video or sequential questions.

i did the offline nbme..got abt 80 percent in it..

if u r only planning on doing one qbank do uworld...kaplan qbook is ok u can skip it and do the qbank...
i started doing questions after my 2nd reading

hey cud you tell me that were there questions in exam in which u had to derive clues from the name of the place(state)to which the patient belonged?\
I mean wer there ques like a patient from Ohio,or a pt from missisipi etc in the ques.?

i m worried that if I give exam in Us ,there would be more ques in which states would be mentioned as the board might be assuming that ppl givin exam in Us would be mostly US citizen n would be familiar with ethnicity n US states
