A 15 year old girl has fever, nausea, and acute abdominal pain and tenderness. Laboratory studies show a neutrophilic leukemoid reaction. A laparotomy and appendectomy are done. Which of the following histologic fingings will establish the diagnosis of acute appendicitis?

b. histiocytic infiltrate of the lamina propria

Correct answer: E

neutrophil within the muscularis is the key point to get the diagnosis

could any one please explain why the answer ?

Although neutrophils are the first to reach a site of inflammation , in first aid its written that appendicitis is due to lymphoid hyperplasia . so the answer should be A ?????

A or E ?
