Hey I know this has been discussed a couple times, but just wanted to know what people think of my erratic scoring.

I took NBME6 last Monday and got a 216(470), studied my weakest areas (neuro, micro, pharm) the rest of the week and got a 242(590) on NBME7 this morning.

I was more shocked/confused than happy because the score jumped so high. I'm taking my Step 1 next week and I'll be taking the UWorld assessments 1&2 back to back this Thursday as a last correlator.

Has anyone else have any erratic scores like this?

Thanks!

Dont worry

You should not be shocked, worried. You should be happy.

It's not unusual for performance to boost in a matter of intense one week study. That happened with me as well.

Also, remember there's +/- 10 points margin of error which means your first score could be 226 and your second score could be 232 which is not a huge difference.

Good luck in your exam :)

I think you should be worried a little bit, because your real score is somewhere between the two scores , and it could be closer to anyone!

however, it's not what you should feel now, it's what you should do. the only thing you can do is to continue studying your week points and try to maximize your performance at the exam date.
your recent score showed that you have the potential to nail the exam, and you can get 99 for sure, just when you keep in the background of your mind the other score, which showed you that you may score low if you didn't concentrate enough!

i think these two scores are for your best!

Thanks for the encouragement b.abid, I'm just going to go through FA one more time and get all those small details down.

Like you said...it's not how I should feel now, it's what I should do now. Just gotta go strong for the next week I guess.

Good luck to everyone out there!

hey huff69, i was wondering if you went back to the kaplan books or other texts or did you just review your weak topics from FA again? I need to work on some areas too and can't decide if I should go back to kaplan right now or focus solely on FA. Thanks, Nicki

dramrro - Keep your head up and just focus on your weak areas and grind it out. I was depressed after my NBME6 result too. I guess it motivated me to study my butt off because I only had 2 weeks left. Hopefully I'll get good UWorld results this thursday.

nicki - I went through FA. I guess it matters how close you are to your test. Since I have only a week, I'm only concentrating on FA. If you have more time, I guess you can go into Kaplan. I loved Kaplan and did most of the videos in December.

DoctorB, I finished UWorld maybe 2 weeks ago and I'm trying to go through it all once again. I have about 500 questions that I got wrong through the whole thing, so I'm mostly focusing on those. I'm also doing random blocks whenever I feel tired of going through FA. I guess the last couple of weeks, it's all about UWorld + FA

Just finished my US World Assessments back to back

USWA1 - 242 (610) , USWA2 - 256 (700)

I really don't understand how I'm getting these scores. I know USWorld overestimates your scores, but I really don't think I can get a 240 even with my NBME7 score (242).

Can anyone tell me what all these scores approximate my USMLE score to be? I would be happy with anything over a 230
