So I have the 2010 videos and PDFs and I have the 2012 hard copy Kaplan Lecture Notes.

After watching some videos I was wondering why they didnt follow the book only to realize that the notes have some changes.

The embryo has some editing done and the anatomy is changed up a LOT!... lot's of toipcs left out and new clinical topics added in.

Now I'm having a dilemna as to which version to use.

I kind of like the 2011 version because it has large headings to help organize stuff, whereas 2012 is more condensed.... but I'm thinking they changed the 2012 books for a reason and there must be important changes.

So far I did physio which was the same, I started anatom and it was veryy different from 2010, not sure about the 2011 version.

I'm very OCD about what book I use, I spent about the last 3-4 hours just comparing my anatomy 2010 pdf to my 2012 anatomy book. I ended up doing the same thing for physio kaplan and brs.... I HATE when this happens haha, I always end up wasting 3-4 studying days just comparing books or cross referencing too much.

So far I read the 2012 embryo and then ended up reading the 2010 embryo which was the same info but just written out differently. Wasted all day on this.

I will compare the rest of the books tommorow, I left them in my car on purpose so I do not waste all day comparing them, I am going to finish one chapter of kaplan and then will check the rest of the books.

As for concepts, I dont know, I'm having trouble grasping that whole thought. I'm kind of understanding the concept and then memorizing all the details from kaplan... it feels like I need 6 months just to do this once.

I feel like if I just understand the concepts and then right away dilute it down to what's in first aid I become limited to only what's in first aid and I won't remember a single thing from the kaplan book.

i understand the concept from kaplan then open 1st aid and write notes there to explain what written in 1st aid

Basically I only looked over embryo and gross anatomy.

EMBRYO 2012 vs 2010 - The info is the same just very minor changes, like one sentence or something.... it's only a 10 page section anyway.
What I noticed is that instead of having BIG BOLD headings and then the info you need to know underneath... they kind of crammed all the info together in the 2012 version which I HATE.

I personally need a big heading, and then the info underneath. If I have to pick out main points from a bunch of sentences I suck at that haha.

GROSS ANAT: I see so many changes, there's a lot of info taken out and a lot of clinical info added in, there's too many changes to start explaining. I'm guessing the main concepts are the same... they just took out a couple unnecessary details and added in some different info I guess.

Rest of the stuff I will update tmrw probably.

VIDEOS:
2011 and 2010 is the same thing. The 2010 Physio videos followed the physio book line for line.
The anatomy videos are a bit off because theres changes in the info and the order of topics so you have to flip around a bit. Starting anatomy vids now.... wish me luck I think I need a full year to prepare for this beast.

Me too in the same boat....hate 2 cross check the editions as its really taking 2-3 days,n after that,dont feel like studying...mood vanishes.. then have to start reading..huhh this cross check is a kind of irritating break during the studies.....O GOD plz help us kill this beast...:sorry::sorry:

I wish I had only 1 source per topic and I had no choice but to just do it. I made the mistake of buying every single book you can think of... now I keep comparing them all and each book has strengths and weaknesses so it just confuses me even more.

leave other books focus on 2012 edition dont waste ur time
u r taking the concept from them only thats my advise to u both
even the 99er i know when i ask them about kaplan book they say they dont remember anything about them but they remmeber 1st aid and uw questions

Well anatomy will always be anatomy it doesn't change, but the details that they included did change a bit.

For example there's no mention of the muslces/arterial supply/innervation of the diaphragm at all in the 2012 version and there's a couple other things that have been left out.

As for what they added, they've thrown in some new details as well as well as some new clinical scenarios.

There's been less additions, but rather more deletions. Sometimes I feel like those extra 5 or 6 details per chapter that they deleted don't save me much time, but possibly could cause me to lose a question or two on the exam.

I guess I will stick to my 2008 kaplan notes. And update material with the 2010 videos and 2012 FA. I can not lose more time in doubts about the material. It's better to go for one and study that very well.
If you said that they have taken out more material that they have added, then I preffer to study more than to study less. Another reazon to stay with my 2008 lecture notes.

All of kaplan books differ just a little. They rearrange the content of every subject year by year, but the main content is the same. I have made a big research in forums and got to the next conclusion:
1.- I f you already have you kaplan books, study from that, study the videos that you have, and up date material from last edition of FA, physiology BRS, and the Pathology book of your preference (Golgian or BRS are the best I guess)

2;- If money is not a problem AT ALL, well, buy the new edition if that will make you feel more comfortable.

The most important thing is not what kind of book you study, but who is behind that book studying. It's VERY important that you thrust the material you are studying, you have to believe in it, love it, and make it yours. That way your study agenda will be easier. If you do not thrust the material you are studying you better change it or change your way of thinking about it, because it does not matter how good the material is, if you do not believe it is good enough you will be doubtful all the time, and that will not help your study.

Stop worrying, make a study plan, and stick with it. You will ace the exam only that way.

and i w'll stick to my material that i already have may i w'll find (the BRS pgysio and path) just to be more comfortable and if not i w'll stick just for Kaplan material cuz i know many popl that already did the exam and they just study from KL note and videos + first add which the most important and the score high...
