hey everybody
recently (and I hate to admit) I haven't been able to focus when I study as I used to.. and I frankly just feel bored and I don't really study for as long as I used to.. its now just down to one hour per day and I was wondering if anyone felt the same way and if they found a new fun way for studying while preparing for their exams or just simply what they did to over come this.

Take an off

This happens with everybody.

Try to take an off for a week or so. You'll feel very fresh after that holiday :)

Try to change the model of reading like switching from reading to questions or from questions to reading or from topic to topic.

That's a big fat truth... And it may well happen during studying for a particular Step, but it may also happen in an even greater scale between Steps. The solution is what Dr. mary suggests. Take some time off (not too much time though, because your "brain" muscle will eventually loose...) then start over. Shifting from text to questions is another effective strategy, but if you have a feeling of burnout, just go on holidays and get back refreshed and ready for hardcore studying!!!

a bit more suggestions

I agree with u corpus callosum as well as mary and anth.pen.
This happens when one is overburdened as the preparation gets longer and longer.

I would like u to use four other tricks:
1- Change the place of ur studying.
2- Get engaged in worship. This is by far the most effective way I've been using so far.
3-Consider USMLE hard and not easy:scared:. This will make u a little anxious. The moderate level of anxiety is good for performance. This trick will arise and motivate u to utilize all of ur potential.
4-Never try to decrease ur sleep and please sleep in one long spill, not in multiple short spills. The REM sleep is the stage of sleep in which the information u gather throughout the day is committed to permanent memory and as per psychology, the REM sleep increases after the first four hours of continuous sleep i.e., during the second half of the day.

Mind Map . .

I used to study with mind map, to build my comprehension and to understand what medicine is . . So i can find which one is more general and specific then i could make a link between its fact. So it's really fun, to see what i've been done and more eager to get lot and lot, besides it's a great way that can make you wouldn't felt asleep even a little then when you need to come back just read the flow of it's map . . But, it's really a tough way to do,:cool: hehehe

Yup2. .

"A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing."

I cant tell you how it's exactly, but for further info, please look from wikipedia,
As Far As I know, It's a way that used by Leonardo Da Vinci . . hehehe:cool::cool::D
