A 55 year old man who's working at a nuclear plant has accidentally been exposed to a vast amount of radiation. He runs to the ER extremely anxious and demands immediate care.
Which of the following systems could first show symptoms?

A- Cardiovascular
B- Renal
C- Respiratory
D- Reproductive
E- Gastrointestinal

GI is correct.

Radiation poisoning can have short-term and long-term effects. Most common short-term effects are nausea and vomiting, and can result hours after exposure. The onset of these symptoms is sooner the higher the dose.

Long-term effects are cancers. I was thinking about the different cancers and whether to select lung (respiratory) or reproductive (prostate) or GI for colorectal cancer, but couldn't decide and so looked it up.

So, good thinking ashish!
