Apart from the simulations and comparing your score to other text takers and legal issues, are there any reasons why one must not do the offline question banks?

Well, I have offline q banks passed on to me by friends and have also budgeted to do the online question banks.
Looking at the type of learner I am ( I tend to get things better when I solve questions after reading the material), I would like to have a first read through Kaplan notes and then do the offline questions as a way of assessing my level of understanding.

After this I will do the online questions under simulation to give me a good idea about my scores!
Would this be a cheat on the score for the online questions?
If yes please would this online score not give me a good idea of how I will perform on the real exam?
i have a lot of time on my hands to do this.

Do you think it's good to do offline then online question banks?

Or please how do I go by the learning process if my style stands to be corrected?
Thanks for your quick inputs:confused::confused::confused:

Online banks for sure - first of all - its the right thing to do. Secondly, you'll learn about your progress over time. Thirdly, they update questions and answers regularly. Also, it's not all that expensive compared to how much it costs to fail ;)

I would reckon u do uworkd and kapoan q bank offline. Do the nbme forms online as they are closest ro the actual exam. Dont do the forms offline before that.

I would say do the online one if you're budgeted to do it anyway. That way you know for sure you have the most updated questions, along with all the other benefits of the online bank. If you do the offline first, it's likely many questions will be the same, and it won't be an accurate assessment of you predicted score.

i think all forms part of the learning process and the most important think is getting the information in my head rather than just knowing my score online!
i stand to be corrected anyway becos am confused now!

You're absolutely right - I think I was essentially brain dead at the time - my apologies :)

To answer your question though. I'd definitely leave at least one qbank alone completely so that it properly tests your understanding as you go through the material... If you have time, do questions like Kaplan's QBook instead of old qbank questions. When I was in school we had access to an old bank and I was lulled into a false sense of security while answering these questions that was shattered when I actually did an NBME... :) Just know what you're getting into :) You want an honest assessment of how much you're improving as you do online qbanks over time and if you've seen some form of the questions beforehand it won't help.

I know its tempting. If you really have time, go over First Aid cover to cover again or go over the concepts you don't have completely solid. If you're done, start on the questions, and when you finish those, write the exam ;)

Sabio mentioned in the post that he referred you to about that point.
Doing offline questions first then you go for the official online UW will ruin the latter, because inevitably there are questions repeated in both and you then won't have a good assessment of your performance as you've already seen the questions (and thought about them) in your previous offline attempt.
