What does it mean: suppose we are on a J-1 research visa, and the program that we are matched in offers a H1B VISA; are we no more eligible to get it since we are already on a J-1 visa. ? And changing J-1 research visa to a J-1 clinical visa is the only option we are left with ?
Could someone please clarify this for me.
Thanks.

Well, if you are on J1 Clinical visa, you cant shift to an H1B without first meeting the home country requirement. That means you need to spend 2 years in the home country, or get a waiver job in the US.

For J1 Research visa, this restriction doesn't apply, and you can get to an H1B easily.
