options if i don't get residency?

hi guys, i would like to know if i succeed in getting pretty decent score in all the steps and still don't get the residency.... dont you think that the whole time i would have passed for the steps prep will be useless... i am jus saying it cuz i dont know what else can some one try? how can one use that decent score benificial??
does any other country accept usmle steps?
