i just read this q from FA ; a boy with diagnosis of aplastic anemia ;
his lab results ;low platlet and anemia but the wbc count is 27,000.is it possible to have leukocytosis in aplastic anemia?!
even if the aplastic anemia is due to an infection such as EBV,HV,ZOSTER...still can we have leukocytosis?
as far as i know aplastic anemia means pancytopenia secondary to fibrosis and fatty infiltration of BM so hypocellura BM,so how come high WBC?
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Pure red cell aplasia

If it is a pure red cell aplasia then
only RBS's r low
increase proerythroblasts
increase giant early cell precoursor
increase pronormoblast
but
WBC's and Platelets r normal

In general aplastic anaemia has
anaemia
neutropenia
thrombocytopenia :)
