Please help me with my study plan

Hi everyone,

Im not sure if I asked on this forum or not, but im a bit worried about the quality of my study plan. I am finishing up my 1st year of med school and i wanted to write my step 1 in Jan 2012.

My background: my medical school focuses on specific common conditions in a very detailed manner, but doesnt cover all of them. It is very clinically focused. So, i kinda want to study for step I as if I only know the basics; I dont want to assume that I know a certain topic very well.

I have 2 months free (Dec 2010 and Jan 2011) and then I have full time school till Nov 2011. Then i'll have approx 6 weeks free.

This is my study plan thus far:

Over the 2 month break (dec and Jan) cover all the material via Kaplan lec + lectures, Goljan audio and FA. I plan on doing all kaplan lectures except the pathology ones. For pathology I will only do Goljan audio and Goljan rapid review.

What do you guys think? Should I do both?

Then during full time school I plan on do all Qbanks except USMLE world and go back to the sections am forgetting.

In the last 6 weeks I plan on doing all the questions from UW.

Please give me lots of comments and feel free to criticize. I really appreciate all of your input and best of luck on your studying!

Hi everyone, .........I really appreciate all of your input and best of luck on your studying!
I think this very short period for step 1 review 2 months and 6 weeks
this is 3.5 months you said that you are finishing your first year
this is very good to start your step 1 early but in my opinion you should start your step 1 now in your free time but enter your exam next year when you finish your basics study :):):):):):):)

hey! i think i am in ur shoes.
but a little ahead of you in med school.
i will give the step 1 around the same time as yours.
i will comlete med school in four months time. and have to do house manship for 2 years. i plan to write all the steps except step 3 within this period.
you know what apart from my leave period of 2 months in a year and some few days off duty, i will have to study whilst i work.
i will be working from 8am to 8pm most of the days but still will have to study the usmle about average of 4 hours a day!
so this should take me about 1 year to be done with step 1 material.
i guess i dont have time as well. but i need to work to get money as well.
is any body in my shoes as well?
any advise oh my God. this would be stressful.
as you finished your medical school this is good plan to start with
you must go on and try
yes it will be stressful but you have no choice and it worth your effort
i wish you the best dr
