Does anyone have explanation why there is metabolic alkalosis in Bartter syndrome?Thanks.

Barter syndrome is like loop diuretic use!

Na-2Cl-K pump not working so excess sodium reach late dct and collecting ducts where aldosterone acts to reabsorb the Na but in exchange K+ or H+ is lost resulting into hypokalemia and metabolic alkalosis respectively.

Liddle is gain of function mutation of ENaC so increased sodium absorbtion in the late dct and ct in expense of K+ and H+, so hypokalemia and met alkalosis
