In order to apply for a couple match, should the partners be married or can they be friends who r gonna marry later ?cuz my partner and i have an idea to get married after a year of residency.

No legal requirement

Neither the NRMP nor the programs require any proof that you are legally bonded to your partner.

Just indicate that you are couples (in your ERAS and her ERAS and in the paired NRMP Rank Order List) and you should have no problem.

if we apply as a couple, the chance of getting interviews or being matched will be same as those who apply independently or reduce than tht??

There should be no reduction in the probability because the NRMP software will consider both of you as one. It recognizes the paired ranks as a single one.

So as far as the NRMP software there's no reduction but as far as interview invitations then there's highly likelihood that you don't get exactly similar (same location) invitations. In that case if you are unwilling to separate at all then you have to decline those invitations and go to the (shared place) invitations only and that's a reduction in the probability for that matter.
