avoid aspirin in children, except in Kawasaki disease. why?
from FA pg 366
You avoid aspirin in children with viral disease since it can cause Reye syndrome. Children with Kawasaki can develop coronary artery thrombosis-> myocardial infarction (secondary to aneurysms I think), you give aspirin to prevent thrombosis. Kawasaki presents very similar to many viral diseases so you need to be careful not to miss it.
