A number of conditions predisposes for the development of Berry aneurysm and the frequent case scenario is "Worst Headache of my life" as the aneurysm ruptures producing subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Here's a mnemonic to remember the risk factors of Berry Eneurysm

SHAME

Smoking
Hypetension
Adult Polycystic Kidney Disease
Marfan Syndrome
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

great mnemonic

I just want to add that it's not any Ehlors it type 4 specifically.
In type 4 EDS there's defective collagen type III.
Collagen type III is found in blood vessels that's the risk of berry :)

According to UWorld QID 462, there's no statistical association b/w Marfan and Berry aneurysm, rather it's b/w berry aneurysms & Ehler-Danlos. Found conflicting researches online. But FA mentions there's a link.

It's confusing, but m going with what UWorld says.

Pathoma gives a different perspective

It's kind of frustrating that different sources have different answers, but I guess that's what we get for not reading the articles or doing the science ourselves.

Pathoma- the lecture series by Dr. Husain Sattar (I highly recommend it!)- says that Berry aneurysms are seen in association with Marfan syndrome and ADPKD. First Aid 2013 still maintains that Berry aneurysms are associated with Marfan syndrome, ADPKD and Ehlers Danlos.
