There is a controversy about serum copper levels in wilsons. Kaplan material says Sr.Cu is low and Robbins says its high....
I think of it as a steal syndrome, Copper gets stolen from the bloodCopper serum levels are paradoxically LOW in the blood in Wilson's disease, but its concentration is high in the urine. Nonetheless, low ceruloplasmin levels is the hallmark of the disease and liver biopsy constitutes the gold standard for diagnosis.
