Hey guys , I wanted some advice regarding my scores and whether there is any point in continuing the USMLE journey any further -

I am an IMG
Graduation year - 2013
step 1 - 207
CS - Pass ( 1st attempt)
CK - 213 ( 2ND attempt)

Have 1 month of USCE in Cardiology and 2 LORS from doctors of that University Hospital .
I also did 1 month of observerships in the UK at Teaching Hospitals.

I plan to do more observerships and a Research Volunteer job before I apply this year. Also planning to take Step 3 soon.

I want to apply to Internal Medicine but am worried about the prospects.
Is it worth pursuing this journey still? I am very nervous and honestly just tired dealing with all this but I still have some courage left and would like to try.

Plz advise

Hi there! I don't know if I could help. I just saw your post and I thought I could leave something. I seriously hope you are not considering quitting at this time. Some people would kill for whatever you have now. I mean I am still starting my journey as of the moment. I am currently mustering up the strength to give it a go again after I failed on my first attempt. A lot of things can be quite disheartening but I say, you go on and don't quit. This is just a bump, you'll get through it. Go back to the very first reason that made you pursue it in the first place.
I think you need to look at what you have...and see that you have done all that because of hard work and dedication...and I think that's enough reason to not quit.

Best of luck to you and Godbless!

You are such an angel to me right now ! Thankyou for saying such nice things !

I am really sorry about your attempt...Have you just started taking the Steps? I wish you all the best for next time and I am sure you will rock it .

Your message just really inspires me not to quit right now ! I am in the process of talking to a few contacts I have in the US and working out how to build up my CV .

Thankyou again for the lovely post !

I am glad to be of help. I think it is important the we get all encouragement and motivation that we can in pursuing our passion. We know why we are motivated...getting there is just not that easy but I think its only because in the end its the only way you can let them know you deserve this.
I am still on the process of starting out again but I am taking it one step at a time. Hopefully I will get there too.

hello

hello dr grey
i am sort of in the same situation as you are. I got 211 in step 1, 209 in CK, failed in CS last year in October :(. I was depressed for a long time and thought that it is over. But again gathered myself up:) and i am taking CS exam again in July hoping that i will pass this time. Although this USMLE journey will take time, money and patience to a great extent but i think its worth it to try for the matches atleast once. You never know how lucky you are unless you try your charm :D.
well i am being way to optimistic Happy-2 but i am confused too. i need some expert guidance on this matter :indifferent:
Anyhow just keep going all i can say. wish you the best :)
