Hi everyone...

I just took my step 1 a few days ago, and the more I think about it, the more I am sure I failed... Did you guys feel the same? I know this is all meaningless until I get my score, but the anxiety is killing me... I get mini-panic attacks every time I remember a question that I got wrong...

Anyways, here's my story.

I didn't take any NBME because I was so behind in my studying. I barely finished reviewing and barely finished uworld. I didn't want to spend a day doing NBME since it doesn't give you explanation like uworld does... but this was a mistake in retrospect.

Uworld all random block. 62% (timed and timed tutor mix)
UWSA 1 (5 days before the exam) 234. (it was 570/800)

I didn't take UWSA 2..

I know Uworld overpredicts your score, so I was thinking I would get around 210 on the real thing, and have no problem passing despite not doing NBME.... Looks like I couldn't be more wrong...

It's been a few days, and I already know at least 40 questions I got wrong already... they were easy ones too... easy enough that I know exactly where in FA it was, but I just couldn't remember the simple fact, and ended up choosing wrong answer... And who knows how many other (harder questions) I got wrong... It kills me even to think about it...

My initial goal was 220, and now I would be happy if I just pass...

If you had similar post-step 1 experience, please do share... Also, if you could list your uwsa1 score and the step 1 score, I would appreciate it.

Thank you all in advance...

I had a lot of anatomy, but most seemed simple enough... I just couldn't recall it. I was usually down to 2 choices, and unfortunately, I chose the wrong one most of the time... or so it seems... I feel like if I had studied anatomy more, it would've been easy points. So I would recommend going over anatomy at least a few days before the exam.

what about time management on exam? How often did you take breaks?
And which part of the anatomy/ system was tested?

everyone feels terrible after step 1 exam. It's just an strange and unpredictable exam. How was your NBME scores. I found that it's highly predictive.

shyrc80 I would suggest going on a vacation with some friends or family. The exam is over and you should try to get your mind off of it. I know easier said than done but trust me it would be helpful for you. It's summer now so perhaps go camping, to the beach or a bbq depending on what you prefer.
Try to surround yourself with people who have no idea what the step 1 is. That's a good idea :).

Thank you all for kind words... I hope next few weeks fly by quickly, and I definitely plan on spending some time with friends and family to make the waiting more bearable.

I actually didn't take any NBME because I was so delayed in my studying... which is what gets me more scared...

And to others that are anxiously waiting for their score... hope our feelings about the exam are wrong and hope we all get decent scores we are happy with!

No point of fretting over the past! Go on a trip. Come back and stick to the rest of your life. You'll know the exam results in a few weeks. Nothing you can do right now except psyching yourself into a depression by over thinking it.

I took the beast a few days after you @shyrc80 AND feel like i failed the exam. I had 3 nbmes with low scores 192 and last nbme was 220. During the exam I made many mistakes on the easy questions and also counted 40 so far. The mistakes were just as you said ones you could look up on first aid.
I think we will get our scores the same time.
I hope we pass i keep thinking about if i can count 40 mistakes imagine all the others I cant recall.
Good luck to you. Lets keep this thread going for moral support.

No I'm not but I am barely passing my NBME and was wondering what helped you get from 192 to 220 in 3 weeks

Got my score today

Got my score today...

I got a 216. I honestly thought I failed the exam as I walked out, and that feeling only intensified as I kept recalling easy questions I missed, so I must say I am happy with this score. Would've been better if it was above 220, but hey, I passed!

Good luck to everyone waiting! If I passed, I am sure you guys will all pass too.

The problem I had was with nbme 17.
For some reason I dropped significantly on that form.
If you see I went from 210 to 192 then back up to 220 (i also found nbme 13 a lot easier compared to all the others I took).
I found drilling first aid the most effective. I did uw twice and over exhausted that qbank so I stuck to RX during my last month of prep to solidify first aid.
good luck!!

That is great news!!! congrats! I would be happy with just a pass at this point. I cant seem to remember any of the hard questions on the exams but only the stupid easy/intermediate ones I missed. Like you it is up to 40, and im so worried about the rest.
I'm relieved that you passed with a great score, gives me some hope that maybe i'll pass too. I'll be fine with just a pass at this point.
Congrats again!!

Congrats! I'm in the exact same position as you. Was getting around same scores on nbme (220s) and after taking step yesterday I feel like I failed or got really low.
