Hi all,

I have a question that I think is quite popular, What difference does it make if you apply for Step 3 in a state board where you are not gonna do your residency?

I mean, if you apply for step 3 with the Texas medical board for example, How does this affect you when you are applying for the match? Do you apply only for Texas programs? Or what?

It does not matter which State you choose to apply for your Step 3 Exam.

Once you pass Step 3 Exam, you can then use it in any State and in any residency and in any State license and in any Fellowship.

You mean if I pass Step 3 for one state, I'll be able to get the license in other state without retaking the test for that state again?
example: If I pass Step 3 for Virginia medical board , I'll be able to practice in Texas?
