ive been reading the topics and so far expenses have just been adding up... several thousand dollars for the USMLE steps, another 500 for the california letter, externship fees or observership fees, liability insurance, books...

my question is, can we apply for student/education loans and cite these as our expenses?

by the way, im an IMG with a GC and resident status in my state... if that helps.

You don't qualify for student loan

You don't qualify for a student loan. Because you are not a student. You are a graduate.
I tried to do that 2 years ago and nobody granted me any loan.

However, once you start your residency job you get something called "Doctor's Loan" or something like that. They will give you money because they know that you are going to be rich when finish your residency :rolleyes:

So my advice for you is this;
Barrow money from your friends and family, do the USMLE thing and then return to them the money once you get into residency :eek:
