I was having some fun with Kaplan Qbank and I noticed this stupid question
A schizophrenic in-patient is on twice daily risperidone developed neuroleptic malignant syndrome.
What is the initial step in the treatment?
A- Cooling blankets
B- Stopping risperidone

They mentioned that the first step is stopping risperidone but I strongly disagree. Because in real life Risperidone is not going to be given the next minute it's a twice daily oral dosage so when you "the smart resident" run to the patient you first order would be of course a cooling blanket.

What do you think?

I agree with you. But, Are there other choices (other ABCD or emergency tools) !! .
Of course there were other choices, but they were all wrong. There was no ABCD sort of options, the others were like (call a psychiatrist, bromocriptin, and I forgot the other one).

So you agree with me that Kaplan can have stupid questions sometimes
