Hi friends,

I have recently started Uworld and I am having problems regarding taking down notes. Each explanation given is exactly to the point and I always feel i"ll miss something important if I don't take it down in my notes. Because of which making notes has become a tedious and time consuming work. I was wondering if there is any alternate approach for solving Uworld. Are Uworld notes very important for exams or should I complete Uworld Q bank fast and then go for 2 or 3 revisions.

Thank you..

I am going thru d same phase, so I stopped. Now I am concentrating on the concept and going thru that part from the original book I am studying , writting down only some thing that really appeals me....I will be taking notes in my 2nd time( GOD permitting me time) .

From friends experiences and things Ive read, its best not to make notes for UWorld. It'll be too time consuming and some people don't even get to the notes. The best thing to do is, incorporate small facts that are IMPORTANT into FA. Because a lot of people that have taken the exam have told me that UWorld is very in detail...its great and all but it has A LOT of random things that will never be tested as well. So keep it simple and understand the concept!

....

How would u know which part of the explanation is High yield in UWorld? I actually typed out the explanations after doing the q's and it definitely filled in the gaps in FA. Now that my exam is on 3/31, i'm studying my world notes and then I will read FA the week before my exam.

Yeah I guess the issue is that everyones exam is different, someone could get more questions on a certain topic. But Ive been talking to a lot of my friends (upper termers and friends in the same year as me), they have all said the same thing many times. And that is to use UWorld along with FA. Most of the stuff from UWorld is actually in FA. So there shouldn't have to be that much of an addition to FA. They told me over and over to understand the concept and write down key points from questions that are not in FA.

So my advice would be for people that have very few weeks to go through UWorld but to incorporate key facts into FA.

I believe you had mentioned you did UWorld from Nov - Jan? So you had enough time to make notes.

I know a lot of people that start making notes but then stop.

Its more of a preference I guess. And if you are going to read them and remember each detail, then yeah.

But for people that have a few weeks or even 1-2 months, they should primarily be focusing on key points in UWorld and of course going along with FA.

hmm actually there are a LOT of things that are in UWorld- a lot of Concepts not explained in Kaplan OR FA that are explained in UW..

Most of my friends used UW as a learning tool, and learnt from the content -- got really high scores. Ofcourse you can do FA, but UW is what the real exam looks like with respect to content, concepts and understand of tertiary questions.

FA is fine, but not for a 99.

Of course, UWorld IS THE EXAM. Majority of the concepts and the way questions are asking are def what the exam is. But for someone that has limited time, to make notes, may not be the best option for them. If you have monthS, yes sure go ahead and make notes, itll help you retain more by writing/typing. BUT, once again the person who started this thread, for them it seems as if it is best to learn from UWorld and apply their knowledge. From that they can incorporate important facts from UWorld and place it into FA.

I think that the explanations in UW are too cumbersome to try and make notes. All the information is important, so it's not as if you could pick out a few points to jot down. What i'm doing is just marking the questions with good explanations (even if I get them right), then i will go back and review the explanations multiple times before the exam.

Thank you guys... You all are really awesome. Your inputs really helped me. Now I have decided that I'll try to internalize the explanation rather than writing everything down, so that I can read it later. I tried it today and it really worked. I am able to spend more time on the explanation and still able to cover lot of questions.

Once again thanks a lot for everyone's valuable advice.
Take care. Study well.

Hey guys,
I'm really glad I read this thread... It's very very useful to know these things in advance. I haven't started any qbank yet but knowing this now does help. I'm going through my second reading of FA, Kaplan and Goljan.. also listening to Kaplan videos now and then...
I hope my study plan works....I'm afraid that as I move on I might forget some key facts since I'm not doing any qbanks.. I think I'll post a thread specifying my study plan so that hopefully I can get input from you... but for now I want to THANK U ALL FOR THIS VALUABLE ADVICE HERE..:)
