Just one more question for this day. Would you like to have more tomorrow?

You are doing research about novel modulators of inflammatory response in lung-tissue cultures. To obtain inflammatory stage you decide to use spesific membranic molecule that cause production of proinflammatory cytokines via toll-like receptor 4 activation. Which of the microbes below your compound is most likely derived.

a) escherichia coli
b) staphylococcus aureus
c) streptococcus pneumoniae
d) mycoplasma pneumoniae

i think its

d) mycoplasma pneumoniae

not sure though.... its been a while since i have revised Micro

I'm going to guess E. Coli - TLR4 is activated by LPS or endotoxin from Gm -ve bacteria eventually causing fever etc.. I'd guess E.Coli over mycoplasma but I'm not 100% either.

e.coli it is. lipopolysaccharide or LPS is part of the cell wall of gram negative bacteria. TLR4 is receptor for LPS.

And if I tried to remember some TLR:s, I would pick TLR2 and TLR4.
