Here's few high yield points about Tourette syndrome:

  • It is associated with decreased dopamine in caudate nucleus.
  • There's a genetic relationship with ADHD and obsessive compulsive disorder.
  • Haloperidol and other antipsychotics useful for treatment.

Patients with TS have increased density of the presynaptic dopamine transporter and an increased density of postsynaptic D2 dopamine receptors, suggesting increased uptake and release of dopamine.Happy-2
