Hi everyone
I've been hearing alot about how getting into a university IM program is difficult and most only get community programs. What kind of USMLE scores are needed for university programs? If you are looking to specialize, community programs won't cut it.
Thanks

I don't think that information is catalogued by NRMP - you might have to look into individual programs...

They are a disadvantage, but I don't think it's as certain as you make it sound; check out this thread.

Good luck!

that's not true.. perhaps whoever told u was talking about top tier university programs..

IMGs can be matched at university programs, or university affiliated programs (most likely)

community programs are good as well, many get fellowships.. but u have a better chance to get a competitive fellow if u are at a university program

step scores aren't everything program directors look for... they look for USCE, research, Letters of recommendation (very important), personal statement.. those will get u an interview.. but at the end of the day u have to make a good interview day as well..

so please don't let people discourage u.. because if only 39% percent of img match.. wow 39% its a lot of people..

Thanks for ur replies. I do have one more question though. AMGs
always talk about clerkship grades in their own medical school. My question is, for IMGs, do they look at your medical school transcripts for match ie ur clerkship grades or clinical years in general or is it just down to USMLE scores and USCE and LoRs etc.?
